Creating the life you want by working from home or owning your own business is easier than you think.  When you put consistency at the top of your list, it makes the “creating” part of your job that much more fluid.  Imagine how much longer it would take you to complete tasks (and to make money) if you weren’t consistent.

Creating the life you want requires you to take your business/work seriously.  I don’t mean, be serious all the time, but rather, treat it with respect.  For comparison’s sake, what if you were an employee and decided to show up at work whenever you liked.  Most likely you would lose the respect of your peers and boss.  You quite likely would lose your job and therefore your income, which would lead you no where close to living the lifestyle you desire.  How much can you contribute to the lives of others if you have very little to give?

Consistently setting office hours and sticking to them will create more freedom for you.  Literally blocking out your days and weeks in your planner and on a calendar is very visually helpful.  This is one way you can honor your work and how you are impacting the lives of others with the service and/or product that you provide.

I used to think that spontaneity brought the most freedom to my life.  Now I believe that the more consistent, organized and pre-planned I am, the more fun I get to have.  That doesn’t mean organizing my office space is my favourite thing to do or that I don’t love being spontaneous anymore.  I’ve just changed my beliefs about planning ahead, which has allowed me to spend more time with family and friends and accomplish more of my crazy big goals.

So look forward to hearing about your crazy big goals and how consistency has paid off for you.  Maybe you want to share how you love to be spontaneous (like me) and how that has served you in life.  I hope my thoughts have helped you in some way today!

Love,

Amy
