I’m always working on developing new habits or maintaining helpful ones.  Tomorrow I’ll write about how you can make your habits stick.  Let’s jump into the intitial stages of developing a healthy habit.

Baby Steps

I don’t know about you but I become daunted by a change of habit that’s too big.  Too big could mean that you’re asking yourself to practice this new habit too often during the week.  It could mean that your expectation is too high, like no junk food except for on Sundays.

Take an honest look at what you want to change and then write down a few small steps that will be achievable for you.  Take into account when the best time would be, for how long, how much, how often.  Get specific.

I love you Discomfort xo

When you feel discomfort, it can be a sign of progress towards what’s most important to you.  Your natural inclination is to fight against change.  Why?  Change may bring discomfort and fear of the unknown.  That’s scary and unsettling, sometimes even overwhelming.  But it’s also a super healthy sign.

Welcome discomfort as it brings growth and a better future for you.  There’s always learning to be done in the discomfort.  Discomfort leads to greater things than comfort will ever afford you.

Man, I Look Good In That Mirror!

Seriously!!  How often do you take the time to acknowledge yourself?  My guess is that you spend more of your time picking yourself apart and focusing on your ‘imperfections.’  I’m not suggesting you let your ego puff up like a pufferfish, rather, acknowedge yourself for the great ways you already take care of yourself.  My bet is that you already are making somewhat of (or a lot of) an effort to take care of your beautiful self.  Good job!  You are already making progress.  Get ready to make more!

Would you share with me one new habit you want to create?

Ciao for now!
