Do You Have A Plan For Success in 2017?

Is planning dead?  Some people I talk to say they don’t have the time to plan ahead.  Others say it’s such a busy time of year with Christmas around the corner that they’re going to wait until January to plan for 2017.  I’ve heard some people say that plans are too constraining and life changes too quickly to stick to the plan, so why bother?

If you don’t plan for your success, you’ll probably start feeling like Ed.  Ed is a very successful business owner.  He has all the income he could ever want and is very passionate about the work he does.  Sadly, he doesn’t feel happy or fulfilled in his personal relationship, his health has been left behind and his team’s morale and productivity are suffering.  What happened? Ed failed to plan for the personal life he wanted and the success of his team.  Using my strategies below and consistent coaching, Ed is starting to turn things around.  He has made time to get back to the gym, into the kayak, back into swimming.  He is implementing healthy boundaries and standards at work so that people are working at their highest potential and relationships are healthy.

Steve also wanted to see a turn-around in his team, his health and his family time.  An executive in corporate, he was so busy juggling the increasing responsibilities that he had failed to plan for his own success.  He had pushed his need for family adventure and fun under the carpet.  He was prioritizing everything else above his own physical health.  He had let his communication skills slide (due to busyness) which was starting to affect his marriage and team dynamic.  This translated into less time to work out (wife doesn’t know about plans) and disunity and lowered productivity in his team.  By asking himself some powerful coaching questions and taking the action steps in the plan we created together, Steve is now seeing a massive increase in the cohesiveness and productivity of his team.  He’s also making time to eat healthier and create a consistent exercise routine.
