The Worst Thing To Do When You’re Stressed

I hear clients say…“I know what to do.  I want to eat healthier, make more time for exercise and give more to my family.  The only thing I struggle with is actually making myself do it!  I don’t know how to start or maintain the habit.  Sometimes it’s hard to be accountable to myself and schedule in time for me!”  Sound familiar?

The worst thing you can do is become paralyzed by overwhelm, fear or perfectionism and not make any move at all.  In our Inner Strength Group Coaching Program I’ve helped many clients move from feeling stuck to taking action very quickly!

Once you understand what thoughts, beliefs and excuses are keeping you stuck, doors will open for you to move forward, to a much less stressful place!!

Members of our coaching group also say that accountability has helped them stop procrastinating (and therefore decrease the stress and guilt that comes with avoiding) and start taking responsibility for what they want to change.

Remember what Sir Isaac Newton said?

“Objects at rest tend to stay at rest.  Objects in motion tend to stay in motion.”

That doesn’t just apply to apples.  When you make yourself a priority (instead of telling yourself that everything will be fine if you ignore your basic needs for one more day) your health flourishes, your relationships deepen, your ability to parent with patience increases and you feel energized and refreshed.

When you’re stressed, that’s telling you something.  It’s telling you that you need to make a move, make a change or focus on the solution rather than what’s frustrating you.  Listen to the cues.

To get out of the rut that stress puts you in, you need to get really clear on what’s causing you the stress.  Write it down.  Then identify what is still in your control.  Sometimes it feels like everything is out of your control, but that’s a lie.  This will really help if you’re feeling overwhelmed.

Don’t wait for everything to be perfect to take some sort of action towards peace of mind.  Choose one small action that you will try for a week to see how it improves your sanity!  There will never be a perfect time to start.  Now is your opportunity.

Get into action and refuse to let the stresses of life paralyze you until you feel like a victim.  You have what you need to create a new path for yourself…a new way of juggling your responsibilities with ease!

If you want to learn how to take control of your time and reduce your stress, sign up for our Inner Strength group coaching program.
