One week ago I came down with a horrible flu. Deep, searing pain in my chest, headaches, completely congested sinuses, nightly fever and morning cold sweats! Just what everyone wants to have! I can’t remember when I’ve felt this sick. Maybe never.
Over this past seven days I’ve learned that I need to rest. When I can’t move because my muscles ache and I have no energy, I should rest and feel comfortable with it. When I have the energy (but am still sick) I seize that time to be productive. My biggest lesson learned has been that I don’t need to be super mom. My husband can pick up the slack that I can’t carry.
The support that I get from the people who love me is not to be taken for granted. On the flip side, when I need it the most I should outright ask for it. No holding back. Just like you want to do anything you can to help someone you love who’s sick, they want to help you.
Take care of yourself by allowing others to take care of you. Respect yourself by resting when you need to and working when you have the energy. Respect those around you by allowing them to play a significant role in your life.
This time will pass. This season will gently flow into a new, brighter one. Trust that there’s a reason for everything. Look for your reason in this season and then learn to rest in that.
Keep Shining!
